Woodgrain is looking for an experienced Hardwood Lumber Sales Representative for our Independence, VA and Elkin, NC sawmills to join our team!

Our Woodgrain facilities in Independence, VA and Elkin, NC are sawmill operations providing materials to our manufacturing facilities to produce wood moldings, prefinished moldings, wood doors and products, and wood window parts, as well as supply materials to various external customers. Woodgrain is a worldwide manufacturer and is proud to be one of the largest millwork operations today.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will promote and generate profitable hardwood lumber sales along the east coast and international markets for our operated sawmills. This includes but is not limited to prospecting and acquiring new hardwood lumber customers for one or more mills, implementing sales strategies, being a product coordinator, manage finished inventory and optimizing the supply chain, all the while adhering to Woodgrain’s values of Safety, Respect, Integrity, Customer Focus, and Servant Leadership.
Primary Responsibilities
• Performs sales control for assigned Woodgrain sawmills which includes developing budgets, monthly sales forecasts, and managing inventory levels.
• Act as the product coordinator for the various lumber grades at assigned sawmills.
• Work with other members of the sales team to coordinate lumber sales and move products out of the sawmills.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with key hardwood lumber customers through various channels such as phone calls, emails, and in-person interactions.
• Manages and grows the hardwood lumber customer base by prospecting and acquiring new customers.
• Responsible for evaluating and implementing product pricing based on market conditions.
• Executes the sales strategies to maximize sales realization and profit to mills.
• Comprehends the direct business needs and explores new opportunities.
• Identify and analyze market trends and opportunities for the division.
• Coordinates the sales file, inventory, and shipping for one or more mills to ensure inventory volumes are maintained for a balanced product mix and targets are met with on time shipments.
• Responsible for customer relationship management which may include recordkeeping, credit applications, forecasts, budgets, and site visits addressing customer complaints, resolving product performance and quality issues.
• Attains and maintains proficiency in knowledge of product attributes, design values, technologies, and be first point of contact for the plant and customers.
• Travels to trade shows and industry events as well as to customers on behalf of Woodgrain.
Physical Demands: The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
• Education – bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• 3-5 years sales experience and knowledge in hardwood lumber industry.
• Account management experience required.
• High-level ability to competitively promote product, negotiate pricing, and develop customer relationship.
• Problem solving skills a must.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Strategic planning and execution.
• Excellent teamwork, motivational, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and customer service skills for internal and external customers.
• Advanced computer literacy – proficient in Microsoft Office.
• SAP experience desired.
• Travel up to 50%.
