Position Description

New River Hardwoods is seeking a dynamic and experienced Sales Manager to join our team. This position will be responsible for the growth and diversification of New River’s customer base, with emphasis on growing its successful millwork/dimension operation in Mountain City, TN. This role requires a deep understanding of the hardwood lumber industry and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company objectives, and lead sales team in meeting goals and objectives.
  • Identify and target new business opportunities and markets.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Oversee sales activities, including lead generation, customer meetings, and contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with the production and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to inform sales strategies.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and reports for senior management.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
Skills & Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Forestry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, preferably in the hardwood lumber industry.
• Strong knowledge of Appalachian hardwood industry and market dynamics.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Live within 3 hours of our main office and kiln/millwork facility in Mountain City, TN.
