A Powerful, Bipartisan Push for American Jobs, Healthy Forests, and Affordable Housing Championed by Reps. Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA) & Terri Sewell (D-AL

What the Bill Does

H.R. 3322 allows individual taxpayers to include solid American-manufactured hardwood products—like flooring and paneling—as qualified home energy efficiency improvements under the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit

(Section 25C of the Internal Revenue Code).

Why It Matters

  • Recognizes American Hardwood as a Climate Solution
Solid hardwood stores carbon and keeps it out of the atmosphere for generations—supporting long-term carbon sequestration in homes.
  • Promotes Sustainability Through Smart Design
Hardwood is a renewable, durable, and low-emission material. Including it in energy efficiency tax credits supports smarter, greener homes.
  • Protects Rural American Jobs
The U.S. hardwood industry supports tens of thousands of jobs in rural communities. This bill strengthens domestic markets and provides relief from unfair overseas competition.
  • Combats Cheap, Imported Substitutes
The market is flooded with imitation products from China that are lower in quality and environmental performance. H.R. 3322 encourages consumers to choose real, American-grown hardwoods.
  • Supports Housing Affordability
The tax credit helps offset costs for builders and homeowners—making it easier to use high-quality, energy-efficient, American materials.

Who Benefits

  • Consumers get a tax incentive to use healthier, sustainable materials
  • Small businesses and mills gain a stronger domestic market
  • Forests benefit from active, responsible management
  • The environment gains from reduced emissions and long-term carbon storage

Call to Action

American jobs, sustainable forests, and stronger communities depend on this bill—don’t wait. Support H.R. 3322 by becoming a co-sponsor and pushing for its inclusion in any upcoming tax, energy, or housing legislation.

Don't Mess with Hardwoods In my life, there have been a handful of shows that didn’t just entertain me—they made me want to be part of the story. “The Dukes of Hazzard” made me want to launch a car over a river and stick the landing like it was nothing. “Miami Vice” had me rolling up the sleeves of a white suit, driving a Ferrari, and chasing down drug dealers with my best friend. “Magnum P.I.”? Same Ferrari, just red this time—and now I’m solving crimes in short shorts with a legendary mustache.
