Position Description

Cole Hardwood is a leading concentration yard specializing in kiln-dried Appalachian Hardwoods. Based in Logansport, Indiana, we proudly serve manufacturers and distributors across the United States and in over forty-six countries. As a Sales Representative at Cole Hardwood, you will play a crucial role in achieving maximum sales profitability and fostering strong customer relationships.  Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Driving Sales: Effectively sell the company’s products to existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
  • Relationship Building: Establish, develop, and maintain strong business relationships with current customers and prospects.
  • Communication and Presentations: Engage in telephone calls, in-person visits, and presentations to effectively showcase our products to clients.
  • Proposal Development: Create clear and persuasive written proposals/quotations for current and potential customers.
  • Customer Support: Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting: Provide management with comprehensive oral and written reports on customer needs, concerns, interests, and competitive activities.
  • Operational Involvement: Participate in production activities to gain an in-depth understanding of production and quality capabilities and limitations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with operational personnel to offer recommendations and ideas that support
Skills & Experience Required
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is preferred, although not required.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the hardwood lumber industry is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers and internal teams.
  • Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Results-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Customer Focus: A customer-centric approach with a focus on building lasting relationships.
  • Work Ethic: Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
  • Planning and Organization: Excellent planning and organizational skills to manage tasks efficiently.
  • The Sales Representative may be required to travel within the assigned region or nationally, depending on the location of clients and potential business opportunities.
