The NHLA Inspector Training School was established in 1948 by NHLA to help fill an increasing demand for skilled lumber inspectors. The Lumber Inspection Program teaches the rules and applications of the NHLA grading system and prepares students for a career in the hardwood industry.
This unique program has earned worldwide respect, consequently attracting students from throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, South America and Asia. Since its inception the NHLA Inspector Training School has graduated more than 6,700 students.
Our graduates are qualified for immediate employment as lumber inspectors. Because of the School’s established reputation and the strong demand for inspectors, most of our graduates receive multiple job offers. Many can select the region where they most want to live.
While the NHLA Inspector Training School cannot guarantee placement, it does maintain a job listing board and set aside at least one day of the training for members to conduct on-site interviews.
